Buyer's guide

Read the whole description The description is the contract. Any restoration or loss noted there is part of the condition of the lot as offered.

Understand the estimate An estimate is an opinion of likely market value, not a promise of the selling price. A lot may sell well below or well above it.

Work out your total before you bid Add the buyer's premium and shipping to the sum you intend to spend, then set your ceiling on that basis.

Use the maximum bid Enter the most you'll pay once, and let the system defend it for you. That beats watching a screen and bidding on impulse.

Request a condition report It's free, and it answers what photographs cannot show.

Ask before you bid, not after Our team is available for any question before closing. A bid is binding the moment it is placed.
